Froedtert Hospital Rises in Quality Rankings; Adds Ambulatory Award

(formerly the University HealthSystem Consortium) announced Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin Froedtert Hospital as one of the top four performing academic medical centers in the nation, winning a Bernard A. Birnbaum, MD, Quality Leadership Award. Froedtert & MCW also ranked second in the Ambulatory Care Quality and Accountability Leadership Award. Froedtert & MCW is the only health network in Wisconsin whose academic medical center and affiliated clinics have earned this award in 2016.

With top four ranking, up from top five last year, the Froedtert and MCW health network again has achieved its pinnacle strategic goal of performing in the top decile nationally for clinical quality. It has also set the standard for quality ambulatory care. This achievement is a testament to the diligent work of staff and providers who continually strive for excellence in caring for the health of local communities.

The Quality and Accountability Study assesses performance across a spectrum of high-priority care dimensions. Based upon the Institute of Medicine’s Aims of Improvement, these include safety, effectiveness, equity, patient-centeredness, timeliness and efficiency.
