Why I chose MCW

I did not rotate as a medical student at MCW, but I felt an immediate fit here. My interview weekend left a lasting impression of a place that produces well-rounded residents who are confident, capable, and immediately ready to operate after training. The residents embody what I appreciate about Midwesterners. Everyone has been humble, hardworking, and fun. It was obvious that the residents were actually friends outside of work, which was important to me.

What MCW has to offer to a Candidate

Our curriculum will prepare you for a future in any type of orthopedic career. I wanted a program that has a balanced foundation between a great trauma experience, strong pediatric training, and service at the VA. There are unique things that made the program stand out to me as well, including the elective rotations, a large orthopedic oncology service, and a call system that prepares us for practice after residency. Our faculty truly care about the residents, and the fact that so many of our staff trained here and decided to stay spoke volumes to me about the caliber of program.

What I like about living in Milwaukee

Milwaukee continues to surprise me the longer I live here. The people have been great. Beautiful rural areas are only a few minutes from the city. Wisconsin has a great State Parks department with awesome trails and areas for hiking, climbing, golfing, biking, skiing, and hunting. There is a very creative food scene in addition to the world famous breweries. Downtown is affordable, clean, fun, and only a 10-minute drive to the hospital.
